LIB200 assignment no.3

Oh, I'm still trying to get use to this blog site. I just can't decide.. though I know that there is always one thing that interest me. I want to research about cloning, which is the closes topic to genetics (my favorite field of study). I'm trying to choose between research idea no. 2 and 6. Research idea number 2 is about The promise and Peril of a Science and technology, for this idea I want to research about The promise of human cloning vs. potential problems. I want to cite Ray Kurzweil works on " The Singularity in Near". I want to use his ideas about cloning. Also another ideas that I want to use is a science fiction about cloning written by Caryl Churchill titled "A Number". For the research idea no.6 I want to write about human cloning in films. Though, I don't know any movies about cloning. There is one movie on the list which is about cloning and I'll try to watch that. If the movie doesn't interest me maybe I'll just stick to Caryl Churchill's play about cloning. As long as the topic is regarding cloning or genetics, I'll never get tired of researching about it.

LIB200

Two of my favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad and CSI. Breaking Bad is about a chemist who happens to have cancer. Walter White is the main character in this show; he decided to use his intellect in chemistry to earn money for his treatment by cooking meth (an illegal drug). Walter White survived from cancer but that didn’t make him stop from cooking meth. Well the science that they use in this show is true its chemistry!!. Chemistry make people do and invent some stuff that can threaten mankind. The other which I also want to talk about is Crime Scene Investigation also known as CSI. This show is about crime scene investigators who use technology and science to solve crimes. This show depicts that science and technology are not that scary after all, it also helps mankind. .Both of this shows have high ratings, a lot of people in America watches this kind of shows. I think one of the reasons why a lot of people watch these shows are because of the thrill and also sometimes these shows are informative. You know the feeling, that you are very excited to know what will happen next, like for example in CSI, you feel the thrill to know whether who the bad guy is. Breaking Bad is sometimes informative, it tells us about some chemicals such as their uses and properties, actually I learned some things from the show. I know all sciences that they use in this shows happens in real life. To my opinion science is a combination of both; it can threaten us and also can help mankind. I think it
all depends on us whether we use science for the good or bad.

LIB 200

My name is Angelica Gador. I came here in the United States five years ago. I am majoring in math and science and expecting to graduate on summer. After graduating  from LaGCC, I will study to be a Physician Assistant. Then my plan is to obtain a PhD in genetics and do research or join a research team in genetics engineering.  Obviously, I'm more a science person. I've been studying science mainly biology ever since I was in the Philippines and I really enjoy it. I notice that I get high grades to all science subjects I studied, compare to those humanities courses such as philosophy. Though, there is one scientific theory that I highly disagree of, it is the Theory of Evolution. I believe in the Divine theory, I was raise in a family of Christians, but that didn't stop me from liking to study science. To my opinion humanities is interconnected to science. Humanities makes people imaginative and ask questions which can lead to  scientific studies. These two subjects can help people be more aware of their being and can contribute to a better humanity.
